If text and images suddenly look larger in Chrome on an Android phone or tablet, the browser’s page zoom may have changed. Chrome can use a default zoom for all pages and a separate zoom level for an individual site. This is different from Android’s system-wide display size and text size settings.
Change the default zoom
Open Chrome, tap More, then Settings and Accessibility. Move the Default zoom slider until the sample text is comfortable to read. Adjust one website
To change only the current site, first enable Show zoom option in main menu under Chrome Settings and Accessibility. Return to the page, open More, tap Zoom, and move the slider. Chrome saves that choice for the selected site, so another website can keep its existing size. Reset the slider if the page becomes difficult to use.
If the whole phone looks different
When icons, menus, and other apps are also larger, check Android’s Display size and text settings instead of repeatedly changing browser zoom. If only one website is affected, close and reopen its tab after adjusting its zoom. You can also compare the page in a private tab to check whether an extension or saved site setting is involved. Keep the change small and reversible, and avoid installing an unfamiliar app that promises to “repair” browser text.
Keep text readable
Zoom can make a page easier to read, but very high values may cause buttons and menus to overlap. If a site becomes hard to navigate, return to the site’s saved zoom and use Android’s accessibility controls for broader reading support.
